June 22 Don't forget the AnimalsWatching the news programs every day one can appreciate the compassion people show in their work.
Alot is being done to help other people, but not about the Animals who have been lost, died or wait for help during every storm, whether it is a fire storm, hurricane, flood or other natural upheaval. Many hundreds of thousands of cats, dogs horses and other pets are abandoned or left tied up and have no way to feed themselves, to survive flood waters or wildfires. Please help by announcing their condition, and providing info on new places that viewers can donate to assist Animal Rescue operations, and adoptions like: EARS: http://www.uan.org/ Cut and paste this address to your news scroll, then send it out to the millions of friends and neighbors who love animals. Also the Humane Society: http://www.hsus.org/hsus_field/hsus_disaster_center/ Thank you. Collecting & Using Rain WaterI want to share about collecting rain water, in case you run out of bottled or your local utilities go down, which happens in the desert, and in disasters.
Here is a step by step process that you can get used to and add to your water supplies all year round. Find a spot near your house where water tends to collect anyway, could be a down spout gutter or 2 roof lines that come together in a corner. Get a 5-10 or 25 gallon plastic container, and place it there. Get an old window screen and place it on top, to keep out leaves etc. Before it rains, make sure it is clean and ready to fill up. Watch the rains fall !! After it rains, go out and cover it to keep out mosquitoes and other living things who might jump in and get stuck. Start using your new rain water right away. Keep a pot near by to scoop up and pour the water through a separate filter pitcher, like a Brita or Pur filter system. If you expect to need water for long term use, fill up recycled water bottles and keep them stored away for a dry season. Make sure you fill them all the way up, not leaving any air and cap them. MMmmm this water is good !! Caution; never use flood waters for drinking, especially if you see oil slicks and debris floating in it. It will be highly toxic to you, your animals and plants. Use only rain water that has showered straight down or poured off a clean surface. This might mean letting one set of showers fall over your roof or gutters, which will clean them, and wait to begin collecting the next batch of rain. Watch your local radar for more understanding. After a week or so it might begin to change so use it to water plants, feed animals and bird baths. You can wash clothes, dishesand take sponge baths too, Just do this in separate bins. If the rain water turns cloudy or algae starts to form and you still need to drink, boil the water in a pot first, let it cool and then pour it through the filter system. The reason I say boil first is then you won't contaminate your filter so quickly with live organisms. Check the weather station often for big rain storms. When you are sure it will rain, dump the last batch and wipe the bin down to get rid of any algae. And start all over again. This is being one with the cycle of Nature. You might be so used to the chemically machine treated water that comes through your pipes that you don't realize how our ancestors got their water. If they didn't live by a clean river, and before wells were drilled, they collected rain to survive. You might have to also. All things great and small. June 17 Simple Life; All Purpose CleanerHere is a good all around cleaner useable on counters, plastics, carpets, fabrics, spots and pet's areas. What you need: A spray bottle, 32oz. 1 tbls. baking soda 1 teas. regular shampoo Clean water.. Rinse out the spray bottle of any residue. You can recycle one from an old cleaning product, or buy new for $1 at most stores. Mix the ingredients together with 2-3 cups of water and shake until you see little bubbles. This will deodorize & clean almost any surface (not good for wood) is non-toxic to babies, pets and skin, even if you are sensitive. The shampoo loosens up grease, the baking soda neutralizes the smell and ph. I have tried them separately with water, but together they work best. Food stains can be removed from carpet without changing the color. One more step to care for your environment in a gentle way. All things great and small. June 14 Earth ChangesHere are suggestions to guide us through the coming shifts in the weather patterns. The Earth is changing and all her inhabitants will feel the pressure. As she is moved by larger forces in relation to our solar system, we are by nature influenced by the energies that are part of this intricate design. As the energy shifts it will effect the local and global environments. It's not possible to predict all the tornadoes, or earthquakes, or weather patterns, especially if the patterns we have gotten used to are revised over time. However, there are a few ways to evolve with the climate. First, find ways to filter your air and water, and to supply heat in case the electric grid goes down for a long period of time. Roads can be blocked and that will prevent oil, gas and other supplies from being transported. Have some stock of food for your family and animals that does not require cold storage or cooking. Then keep a bit of cash on hand so you are not dependent on the web, or banks for assets. Along the way you may search for help from government or other authorities but you may find some information and then be disappointed or misled. It's better for you to rely on your instincts and trade skills with those you trust locally. A good idea is to watch your animals and native wildlife for signs of changes in their behavior. Their senses are much sharper and will alert us if we are listening. Just like a cat who hides from loud noises, or birds who collectively silence themselves before a storm. While you have time, to look for ways to shore up water sources and live peacefully side by side, or move to new location. Rain and drought can trade places in certain areas. It has happened several times before in Earth's history, over millions of years. The Grand Canyon is an obvious example. Water, which takes many forms, including rain, rivers, lakes, ocean currents, clouds, snow, glaciers, ice caps, and every combination will be changing in quality and form. Some groups of people who have taken life for granted will face unusual hardships, some who have lived a modest life will find unexpected grace that didn't exist before. If people are caught unawares, there will be trials and hardship, but more relief to follow as with every cycle. However, the simpler your lifesyle, the more your senses can be open to knowing what to do, you are free to move on with fewer burdens to deal with. Now is a good time to sort out what is important, make peace with your loved ones, and give away the rest. Life in its purest sense is all we really have anyway. In the end, where ever you in consciousness is where you continue. This may involve a whole new life or point of view in which to continue the journey. June 10 Wind & WavesWaves of Change are on the way...... All of life on our little planet is bound by the laws of physics. The elements of wind, water and fire are the most fluid, weaving through wildlife and nature, but is balanced by the sturdy, solid crust of the earth. On a broader scale, we are living in an ocean of cosmic energies, some measureable some not, however, we can calculate and observe phenomena and make correlations. My scientist friends think it is silly to watch the stars for the seasons of change they predict on Earth, but astrology does have a history of probabilities that can be monitored. Uranus the planet of creativity and invention, is now at 14* in the watery sign of Pisces. It is a unifying sign and all things related are expected to be under revision during the next 5 years. While Uranus spent 7 years in Aquarius, an air sign which rules cultural intellect and humanity, we saw the networks of communications and the electronics boom. Before that, Uranus was plodding through the solid earth sign of Capricorn. During that transit awareness of the energetic properties of rocks and crystals came to light in a broader way. So in relation to water, we will see new issues come to the surface. Quality and treatments of potable resources which we have come to accept, will be under revision. Recycling used water will be more important. Water changes forms too, like the Polar caps melting into the oceans, raising sea level concerns for fragile islands, eroding coastlines or saturating the ground causing more landslides. The recent increase in hurricanes, typhoons, and tsunamis during the last 7 years is more proof this is true. We may be more affected by the frequency and magnitude of these in coming years. An aspect of this transit that is reflected in consciousness may be the softening of the 'spiritual warrior'. Self help gurus and preachers that have built a following, may find that their congregations do not want to hear rhetoric anymore. Humans who have been working on their own sensitivity will likely pay more attention to their inner voices, intuition, or dreams. If you know about your own astrology charts, all the planets in the water signs will be touched by this gradual transit. You will feel it especially if your sun or rising signs are in Pisces, Scorpio or Cancer. Whatever happens, it is sure to bring some surprises, because that's what Uranus does to energy, shifts the stream for creative insights and solutions. |
